Road Trip Reports Note: Nealand Hill and Max Fuller took off and went into the Dakotas in pursuit of birds. Their main quarry was Northern Goshawk. The following is a note from Max: We had six Goshawk sightings with a possible seventh. We had one adult fly by, and we saw three juveniles flying together .So we saw four different Goshawks for sure. We saw the three perched and flying and we saw one juvenile perched the day before. We joined a pretty exclusive club—the Three-At-the Same-Time Club. I watched two of them engaged in aerial combat for nearly a minute through my scope. Really cool!! Other highlights were a close-up look at a Sharp tailed Grouse and a very, very beautiful male Long- tailed duck. Another highlight was driving out on a frozen lake and getting my picture taken. Of course Nealand made me take his scope and suitcase out first! The weather was very mild for up there. One day when it was about 27 degrees and the wind was blowing about 25mph, a lady said to us “Another beautiful day.” And she was serious!!
